This is spoiler-free Clawbert review.
I Love Claw Machines!
I play the claw machine every time I go to the grocery store. I rarely win, but it is still one of favorite treats for when I am out and about. The claw machine has been one of my favorite games since I was a child. It is, in my opinion, one of the best uses of spare pocket change.
Claw machines are notoriously difficult to defeat. The toys are stuffed in together and the pressure on the claw is variable. However, when I was little there was an occasion when I won two toys at once. The claw hooked around the handle of an Undertaker water bottle. It pulled a KISS doll along with it. Did I mention it was the 90s?
My wife and I love playing the rubber duck claw game at our local movie theater. We have amassed quite the collection of rubber ducks from our many movie dates. We have them arranged on shelves in the kitchen.
This is especially rewarding when the duck relates to the movie we have seen. We once got a clown rubber duck after seeing the remake of Stephen King’s It. We also got the Statue of Liberty duck after seeing The First Purge.
This week I would like to talk about a claw machine mobile game I have been playing. Clawbert is created by Mexico-based game developer HyperBeard Games as a collaboration with a developer called Bow3. The all-ages game is about a lonely claw looking for friends. Clawbert’s machine is filled with eggs that hatch into a variety of exciting characters.
HyperBeard Games was started in 2014 by two friends Antonio and JP. The duo struggled to expand and get the studio off of the ground. HyperBeard found success in 2016 with their popular game KleptoCats. Check out their About Us page for more of HyperBeard’s story!
Gameplay and Mechanics
Clawbert works like your typical claw machine. The claw is lined up, then dropped. Whatever it grabs is given to the player. Since the board in Clawbert is two-dimensional, not as much skill is needed as with the classic crane game.
Instead of stuffies and knick-knacks, the Clawbert machines are filled with eggs, coins and gems. The eggs are used to find new friends. The coins and gems act as the games free and paid currencies, respectively. Currency can also be purchased through microtransactions.
Similar to loot boxes in other games, the eggs are placed on cool down timers in order to hatch. The players can only have a few eggs on cool down at any given time. The cool downs can be sped up by spending coins. This mechanic helps to pace the gameplay.
Features and Functions
Like many mobile games, Clawbert also contains a variety of mini games, events and daily activities. This includes:
Achievements – This screen lets the player view the milestones of their account. Can you meet all of Clawbert’s goals?
Daily Checklist – Three quests are given to the player each day. Each quest gives rewards to help the player with their progression through Clawbert.
Daily Spin – This roulette wheel can be spun to gain a variety of rewards.
Hats – Dress up your claw! There are many different hats your claw can wear. A lot of the hats in Clawbert are humorous and sily.
Puzzles – Hatching eggs unlocks puzzle pieces. Filling out a puzzle gives great rewards! Try to unlock all of the puzzles that Clawbert has to offer.
Spell Words – This screen allows for the input of promo codes. Spell Words are an important part of speeding up your progression in Clawbert. Like many other games, most Clawbert Spell Words expire after a certain amount of time. Make sure that you are regularly keeping an eye on Clawbert and Hyberbeard’s social media accounts for more Clawbert Spell Words.
Store – Clawbert’s marketplace contains options for buying currencies with gems or real money. Sponsored offers can be completed to gain free gems. The store in Clawbert is similar to most other mobile games.
Worlds – In Clawbert. different areas give different rewards. Unlock different machines by collecting toys and puzzles. Some of these worlds can also be purchased with gems.
Hatching and Collecting Eggs
Hatching eggs will give you toys for your account. These characters range from animals, to anthropomorphic objects. Clawbert’s friends are very diverse and silly.
Each character comes with their own factoid about them. Filling out the collection is probably the most rewarding mechanic of the game. This is similar to the original claw game on which Clawbert is based.
My favorite character at the moment is Peppe the pizza slice. Peppe’s fact reads: “Separated from his octuple brothers because he secretly loves pineapple.” We finally have an answer on the pineapple pizza debate! Clawbert’s great sense of humor is what makes this game really shine. It is one of my favorite parts of playing the game.
My Top 5 Tips For Playing Clawbert
I am not familiar with any Clawbert cheats or hacks. However, I do have a few tips for making your way through the game.
Do the daily quests! – A general rule for any game is to do the daily activities every day. The rewards may seem small, but they add up over time. Clawbert is no different. Doing the daily quest will help ensure that you are getting the maximum amount of progression.
Manage your time wisely. – Don’t let your eggs sit in your bins finished. If you the have the time to spare, make sure that there are always eggs on cool down. If you have played other games with this loot box mechanic, like C.A.T.S and Clash of the Clans, you will do just fine in Clawbert.
Unlock the egg slots. – The entire game of Clawbert revolves around hatching eggs. Increasing the output of egg hatching will greatly improve the game’s progression.
Empty the machine. – The Clawbert machine resets every so often. Make sure that you are clearing as much of the machine as possible before it resets. Clear out the machine for maximum progress.
Look for Spell Words. – Keep an eye on Clawbert and HyperBeard’s social media accounts for promo codes that give great rewards. This is the closest thing we have to Clawbert cheats. Clawbert Spell Words will give you great prizes, fun effects, and more!
At the time of writing this article I have unlocked 31 toys and 2 hats. I have been playing on and off for about a week. By design, Clawbert is not meant to be played for long periods of time. It is great for playing a few minutes at a time multiple times per day.
I love the aesthetic of the game. I am a huge fan of idle games. As a person on the go, I need a game that doesn’t require too much attention. The idle game genre allows me to progress through a game while on the go!
The graphics are bright and the characters are very cute. The facts that come with each toy are often humorous. Overall, Clawbert has a great personality.
I would recommend this game to people who are looking for a casual and light gaming experience. This is not a game that you will play for hours on end. However, it can be a great break or pick-me-up throughout the day.
Spell Words are another important aspect of playing Clawbert. These promotional codes will show up on Clawbert and Hyperbeard’s social media pages. Spell Words will award players with currency, vanity items, and other fun gifts.
There are many websites that claim to have active lists of Clawbert Spell Words. However, most of these codes often expire after a certain amount of time. The most reliable way to obtain spell words is to check regularly for updates. I have yet to see a third party list of Clawbert spell words that is accurate and up to date.
This is possibly due to the fact that Clawbert is not being actively updated and maintained. It seems as though the companies involved have moved on to bigger and better games. While some of the Easter egg spell words still work (try DOABARRELROLL), most of the previous codes are no longer eligible for redemption.
Make sure you keep an eye on the game’s social media for more of these magic Spell Words! I have listed the company’s contact information below. This is the closest we can get to Clawbert cheats, so use every spell word that you happen to come across!
Clawbert’s Active Spell Words
There is only one Clawbert Spell Word that works for me. It is:
This Spell Word causes the screen to spin around. It can be used many times. I like that Clawbert contains this little Easter egg and gaming inside joke.
I have tried many other Spell Words and they do not work. If you find Clawbert Spell Words that are active, let me know on social media! I will update this listing. However, it does not seem like this game is being actively maintained, at leasr when it comes to releasing Spell Words.
For a list of previously working Spell Words, check out Game Skinny’s review of Clawbert.
